Our philosophy is to increase understanding & communication and ensure the highest level of record keeping and documentation.
HMA supports the practice guidelines of the American College of Occupational and Environmental Medicine (ACOEM). Like ACOEM, HMA believes that a physician’s primary role in the workers’ compensation system is to evaluate and, when possible, address factors that contribute to delayed recovery, poor treatment outcomes, and increased disability.
ACOEM’s guidelines—particularly Chapters 4 and 5—emphasize the importance of accurate communication in several key areas: determining the mechanism of injury, making disability decisions, managing ongoing cases, and supporting other critical decision-making processes.
To support these goals, HMA promotes high-quality information exchange between patient and physician. HMA also utilizes an efficient interpretation system that fully meets ACOEM’s standards for information gathering.
